Greater career options

VET courses at M.I.T.H range from Diploma to Advanced Diploma. Successful completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma enables you to attain a junior to middle management level position as Chef, Baker, Commercial Cook or Pastry Cook (according to the specialisation chosen) in the hospitality industry, which is growing by leaps and bounds every year.

Furthermore, if there is an entrepreneur in you, you could even start your own restaurant or catering business!

Campus

M.I.T.H is conveniently located in a spacious campus building with well equiped classrooms in the heart of the central business district of Melbourne City, with excellent access to public transport, just a two minute walk from Melbourne Central station. The campus buildings are surrounded by cafes, restaurants, banks and shopping centres.

Training Kitchen

One of the most important features of M.I.T.H are our five onsite industrial standard commercial kitchens, specifically designed for training purposes. M.I.T.H also has support facilities for the kitchens in the form of walk-in cool room, walk-in freezer, dry store etc.

Multimedia Centres

The Multimedia Centres provide an opportunity for students to undertake independent projects and complete their assignments with word processing, Internet, printing and photocopying facilities.

M.I.T.H provides students with free Internet access.

Independent Learning and Resource centre

M.I.T.H also has a learning and resource centre, with facilities such as computers with internet access, trade journals, reference books, CD ROMs and videos, which will help you enhance your learning.

Well Qualified Staff

Our staff are highly qualified and have years of experience in the Hospitality industry as well as in training. We take care to maintain an excellent Student-Trainer ratio, so that each student receives individual attention.

Teaching Methods

Our teachers use a range of methods depending on the nature of the units. These methods include classroom
delivery, practical training in specialised training workshops, practical demonstration, hands on experience, compulsory work experience, guest lectures by industry professionals, field trips and flexible learning. Your learning will be made easy and interesting by a number of audio-visual aids such as video, television, OHP and CD-ROMs.

Student Services  

M.I.T.H. has a dedicated student services department headed by the Senior Manager, Student Administration. The student services officers are readily available to assist students with any course related or other enquiries, discussing matters related to course progress/attendance or for requests for issuing documents.

Student support

M.I.T.H has a Learning Support Unit to assist you on an individual basis, with study skills, exam preparation techniques, presentation skills and business communication skills such as report and case study writing skills. These services are free of charge.

Culture Specific Facilities

M.I.T.H provides prayer room facilities for those who wish to follow their faith. Halal meat is used whenever possible in the practical training components of all Hospitality courses.

Common room facilities

The common room at M.I.T.H is a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy free indoor sports facilities like table tennis, pool, air hockey, carrom board and many more! There is a sick bay with first-aid facilities for the students.

Student Welfare & Counselling service

At M.I.T.H, we believe in taking care of our students and foster a very warm and supportive environment. A welfare officer/ counselor is available by appointment to assist students in any personal, social or academic difficulties they may be experiencing. Our welfare staff are also willing to help you with any questions about selecting an appropriate course or making your way through the course or about living and getting around in Melbourne.
We also provide career counselling about pathways to higher education and job placement.

Meet and greet facilities

Arriving and settling down in a new country can be a difficult experience and we don't want you to start this new phase in your life on an uneasy note. We can assist you with organising of airport pickup and the arrangement of home stay or rental accommodation after you arrive here, for a reasonable charge and prior intimation.
